The Church I am currently working with in Adelaide has just begun a ladies’ Bible study learning the Inductive Bible Study method as I take the ladies through God Are You There?
A comment I often hear after a few weeks of teaching this method is, “I thought I was too old to learn to study the Bible on my own. But now that I have had a chance to use this material, I see that I can do it!”
One of my dear friends is 80 years old and she is excited as a child in a sweet shop when she talks about her Bible study and what she is learning from it! This is what keeps me going!
God is at work in the hearts and minds of men and women from all kinds of cultures and nationalities and I just praise Him for giving me the honour and privilege of being a part of what He’s doing and being able to see the fruit that comes from His ministry!

Since I became a Christian the church and its people have lovingly taught me things about God and living a godly life. They helped me to appreciate God’s Word and its role in my daily life.
What has He done since then? He made an unhappy man to be able to delight in His Word and to study it daily. Our God, Who is so faithful and loving, has given me the ability to study the Word inductively and to lead a men's Bible study group.
In John’s gospel there is a passage that I have always kept in mind when things have not gone my way. The Lord challenged His disciples if they would continue to follow Him. Peter’s answer rings down through the centuries: “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life” (John 6:8). It is these words that we study.
The Word of God and the time spent in it is never wasted.

I joined a Precept group at a time in my life with many demands on me. My spiritual life felt dry and even though I knew in my head that there was living water available in a relationship with Christ, I was having difficulty accessing the encouragement and help I needed.
The Precept material gave me a framework and direction in my Bible study and led me deeper into spiritual truths. For the first time in quite a while, I began to grow in my spiritual life and to get excited about God’s Word.

Yvonne has been coming since we began just over 12 months ago, her husband, Kum Seng said that he joined the study because his wife kept coming home and was so excited about what she had learnt that he decided to come and see for himself. Kum Seng said that he has done B.S.F., and a number of other courses and bible collage courses but had never learnt as much as he has since joining Precepts. He had previously been confused about chapter 10 & 11 of Genesis and could not work out why 10 spoke about the separation of the peoples into their lands, according to language, according to their families, into their nations. When over in Ch.11 it starts with "The whole earth used the same language and the same words, then they journeyed east and began building cities to stay together." He thought that there was a mistake somewhere until it was explained to him about the overview and then the detail. He is thrilled about the new insight he is starting to see in the scriptures.
David came along also to the studies because his wife Susie was always excited and wanting to tell him about what she was learning from God's word. David said from the studies he sees that what God says He means and that we need to seek Him and walk in His ways.
Lillian now has a biblical world view, many of her questions have now been answered. [She used to be a long ager.] She was excited to learn that we are of one blood, one race, the human race, and that we all have the same skin colour, melanin.
Adele is a scientist and she said that she now has the confidence to talk to her colleagues about creation because she now has the evidence from God's word to give her that confidence.
My quiet lady, Amy , who was a little apprehensive about speaking in front of the others, gave a wonderful testimony. When she first joined us she thought that she would not cope with the questions and the depth of the study but as the weeks went on she found herself excited about what she was learning. Amy has 2 daughters; the younger one who is 16 yrs. of age, doesn't talk to her mother about very much but talks to her father and older sister mostly. Amy told her about having to give a testimony about what she had learnt and began explaining to her daughter all about the great flood etc. The daughter said that it was a lot of nonsense but Amy was able to give her the evidence of what she had been learning and so the daughter asked her mother, ‘have you really got a uni degree?' Amy said yes and asked Debbie if she would like to see the certificate. After that the daughter began to listen to her mother and Amy said that she began to ask questions. The study has enhanced this mother-daughter relationship because Amy now has knowledge of God's word that she didn't have before. What really impressed Amy was the genealogy, and how the evidence is shown to us even in these lists.

Since completing some of the Precept studies in recent years, God's Word has come alive to me more than ever. The step by step process as taught by Precept Ministries, within the context of a Ladies Group, coupled with personal Bible Study we covered each lesson (be it a book study on Timothy or Titus, or a topic study on Covenant), has been enormously beneficial. To get my head around what God's Word teaches and to dig deeper for myself, comparing scripture with scripture, has been a revelation. All this time I have been a Christian but never really searched the scriptures properly until now. Do consider taking up one of the many Precept studies, you'll learn so much and most of all you'll be obedient to HIM who asks us to meditate on HIS word day and night. Then we can be equipped to do every good work, as HE leads us.
